A Journey of Discovery

Tobavarchkhili — also called the Silver Lakes — is one of the wildest and most beautiful multi-day alpine treks in western Georgia, located in the remote Egrisi Mountains of Samegrelo at around 2,500–2,900 m altitude.

Day 1: Kutaisi  → Mukhuri→ Base camp

Depart Kutaisi by 4x4 vehicle and drive through Samegrelo region to Mukhuri village — the gateway to the lakes. Begin trekking, gradually climbing to your first campsite Okhoje lake. (~10 km hiking)

Day 2: Ascent to Tobavarchkhili lakes

The most rewarding day — a challenging climb through alpine meadows above the treeline. As you gain altitude, the legendary chain of 30+ glacial lakes comes into view, each a brilliant shade of turquoise and emerald. Camp by the largest lake.

Day 3: Exploration day — the lakes plateau

A full day to explore the magical lakes plateau at leisure. Hike between the upper lakes, spot Caucasian wildlife, swim in the crystal-clear glacial waters (brave souls only!), and soak in the remote wilderness. Overnight camping under the stars.

Day 4: Descent → Mukhuri → Kutaisi

Morning descent back through the forest to Mukhuri village. Meet the vehicle and drive back to Kutaisi, arriving by early evening. Transfer to your accommodation or onward destination.
